A Labour Market Impact Assessment is an approval from Employment and Social Development Canada (ESDC) confirming that hiring a foreign worker for a specific position won't negatively affect the Canadian labour market. A positive LMIA is generally required before a foreign worker can apply for an employer-specific work permit under the Temporary Foreign Worker Program. Some hires qualify for LMIA-exempt routes instead, under the International Mobility Program.
We assess the role and wage, advise on the required recruitment steps, and prepare and submit the LMIA application, followed by the worker's work permit filing. For employers who've already had a worker selected for a compliance review, we provide audit support and help prepare the response.
